What’s Your Opinion… on Couch Color?

Update: This blog has moved! You can check out this post here.

Everyone likes to give their opinion, right? Some people like to give it even when they are not asked, so I am hoping that you will all come through when I am telling you that I need your help. I have spoken about our “new” circular sofa and chaise lounge before (here and here), and you know that I would like to reupholster them. Here is a picture of the couch.

And here is the chaise.

I have always loved red velvet couches and would love to have either one or both covered in red velvet.

  1. I love the idea of a red velvet couch and chaise! If you want to keep the red theme but break up the color a little, maybe a red and gold pattern on one of the pieces?

  2. I cannot wait to see it in person. How about a varigated pattern that has different shades of red. Maybe a touch of gold or purple (my favorite color)….

    • I like how you think. I also thought that something with red and purple would be perfect, but I have not been able to find that either. 😦

Also, we spoke with Doug about you and Jack staying here when the baby is born, and we would love to have you. I cannot guarantee that the couches will be reupholstered by then, though!

  3. A red velvet couch sounds stunning! If you have always loved them, then by all means go for it. You have some good opinions in this post already. Splurge on the fabric of the accent pillows maybe (?) There is the rare chance you will find fabric from a dress (etc.) that has been worn once – try ebay or a consignment shop. I’ve had some beautiful dresses as a bridesmaid that I wore for only a few hours. Good luck!

    • I have, but I don’t want a light color, there is too much brown in the room and black seems too dark. That is why I was leaning toward a solid color, especially for the big couch, because I thought that it would be more neutral that way.

I would love to hear what you have to say about this post!
